The Community Churches Interaction Council (CCIC) is an ecumenical group of churches and organizations located in the Cannon Falls area that work to promote the words, actions, and love of God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. We believe that by coming together we can do more to further the kingdom of God and help meet the needs of our community and beyond. Member churches and organizations of the CCIC manifest this by:
- Actively promoting and giving voice to CCIC unity and respect for each other.
- Sharing insights, ideas, and resources when appropriate by filling the roles of both givers and receivers.
- Providing primary assistance and notification of selected CCIC action projects.
Our History
CCIC has been established as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization since 2006, although our community work began years earlier. At the time, Cannon Falls Church Leaders realized that we could accomplish more together. Local pastors and lay leaders would gather in efforts to see how they can best meet the needs of the community. This led to ministries like:
- The Good Samaritan Fund – assisting people in the Cannon Falls community experiencing an emergency need.
- Feed My Starving Children – packing tens of thousands of meals that go to feed kids.
- Community Dinner – providing free monthly meals that bring the Cannon Falls community together.
- And other ministries including but not limited to Community Thanksgiving Dinner, Habitat for Humanity, Cannon Falls Food Shelf, and Conversations in the Marketplace.
In 2022 after the pandemic had disrupted many of our ministries, there was a shift in local pastoral leadership at many of our churches. Those leaders realized that it was more important than ever for churches to work together and be unified in the gospel in efforts to have a positive impact on the community. This led to a renewed commitment to our long standing programs like the Good Samaritan Fund, the Food Shelf, and Feed My Starving Children, as well as a larger effort to cultivate new partnerships and launch new programs.
